Thursdays at 7:30 to about 8:30 AM
Saturdays at 6 AM (ending time is based on the run programed for that day)

The Program:

The group currently has its sights on the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon on February 18th, 2024. The runs are organize and designed to prepare any level for the event and manage fatigue and progression along the way.

Thursdays are shorter interval days where exposures to faster paces will not only improve your overall endurance and stamina, but also improve your running paces. The shorter duration of Thursday’s runs allows us to expose you to larger running forces at appropriate doses to elicit development of connective tissues, preparing you for a longer runs.

Saturdays are slower paced, longer duration, lactate zone 2 runs that will build a base of aerobic capacity and stamina while increase your mitochondrial ability to efficiently produce energy for during longer bouts.

Throughout the program, there will be shorter easy runs and even time trials as we manage accumulating fatigue and then piece everything back together for the race.

Additional Notes:

  • If you’re participating in the Half Marathon in February, Thursdays’ will be the same, and Saturdays’ workouts will be cut in half.

  • If you are a member of CrossFit City Limits, the runs are designed to fit within the CrossFit City Limits workout program, so you would replace Thursdays’ and Saturdays’ classes with joining the run group. If you are only going to choose one run day to join the group, Saturdays would be the priority.

  • Even if you’re not participating in the Austin Marathon or Half Marathon, but want some running buddies, come join us…even if it’s just dropping in for one run!!!
